You may have noticed that things look a little different around here: gone is the overly-corporate-I-do-everything-under-the-sun website. In its place is something that is much more personal and months in the making. Well, five months of actual design and writing. But it’s been stewing for well over a year. You see, I’ve learned a lot this past year. From doing business with some awesome clients and from doing tasks I really didn’t like all that much. I realized what I really love to do and that’s design beautiful websites.
When I started my business, I didn’t know what the heck I wanted to do. Sure, I knew I wanted to create websites. But I also thought I wanted to design email newsletters and Facebook advertisements. I thought that by offering all of these services I’d be more appealing to potential customers. But as I took on more and more clients, it became obvious: my true passion was website design.
I decided to take a hard look at my business. What did I want from my business? What type of client did I want to attract? How much time did I want to spend doing jobs other than website design? And the answers to all of these questions became clear. I love website design. I love WordPress. I love graphic design. I love being creative. I love the process of meeting a new client, learning about their business and the figuring out how to bring their business to the web. It was so obvious what I wanted. It just wasn’t so easy to see how I’d accomplish that.
Enter Dani Nelson of daninelson.com and De Yarrison of essentialshiftnow.com. With their help, I figured out just where I saw my business heading. This website is the result of honoring my values and my family’s values, a lot of long discussions, and being true to myself and my goals. So, a million thanks are due to Dani and De and the many others who have helped me figure this whole business thing out.
Besides changing the message, I’ve changed up the layout and chose colors to match my logo. I simplified the website and cleaned up my portfolio. My goal with launching this new site is to attract more of the awesome clients I’ve been lucky enough to work with over the past two years. I want to help passionate, creative, and enthusiastic small business owners design and build their websites. I want to form lasting relationships with clients that grow as their business grows. And most importantly, I want to have fun doing so.
So take a look around. I’d love to hear your feedback! I plan on updating this site much more frequently and I plan on blogging on a regular basis. And, drop me a line; whether it’s about new business, old business, or just to say hello!
